A Time of Transition

Hello hello! Here is an update on the club’s current situation:

Last Tuesday, it was announced that Fife would be transitioning back into Tier 3. This meant a variety of things: restaurants were closing earlier, indoor meetings between households were restricted, pubs were no longer serving alcohol, and most importantly, indoor team sports activities were suspended for the time being. With the previous restrictions we were still allowed non-contact pool time and Strength & Conditioning group sessions where we could work on swimming, legs, passing, shooting, and overall fitness. So, for the water polo club, the new restrictions came as extremely unfortunate news. We would be losing the little pool and team time we did have.

However, we are a resilient bunch. Our captains, Ruby and Cameron, have done an excellent job supporting the team through this transition. The women’s team have continued weekly virtual team meetings and have begun virtual workout sessions. So far, we’ve done Zumba and yoga together, which has been an absolute blast! The men’s team is staying sharp by watching old game footage- both professional games and their own- and doing game analysis as a group. Our social reps have also put in extra effort to keep everyone in touch with a great virtual social last Friday!

Luckily, the performance S&C suite and the main gym also remain open so club members are encouraged to keep up their strength and fitness whenever they can. We all really appreciate the opportunity to get out of our homes and get those endorphins going, even if it’s not in the way we expected!

We all really look forward getting back in the pool and playing some water polo, but for now, we’re keeping our heads up (which is a lot easier when we’re out of the pool, sorry Ian😋) and taking every new change in stride!
